Men's Bocce Update
We have a new Commissioner. Dick Bloom will be
taking over for 2008. As of now, the plan is to begin the season
the week of May 5 with the same format as in 2007. All existing
teams returning for 2008 should forward a roster to Dick at
rbloomky@aol.com or phone him at
439-7936. The entry fee will remain at $40 per person. The
rules can be seen at the Men's Bocce section of this site. Team
fees are due to Dick by April 15th. Rosters will be passed out at
6:30PM on May 1 at the lodge. A cleanup day will be held at 9AM on
April 26 (Rain date May 3) New members who want to play, please
contact Dick at 439-7936.

Frank Mauro...born and raised in South Bend, Indiana-- beneath the golden dome of Notre Dame.
Graduated from Purdue where he met his bride of 38 years-- Linda, and moved to Dayton upon graduation in 1969.
Frank's family came from the area of Cappacio-Salerno.
Frank has spent his career as an engineer in the construction industry here in the Dayton area.
His wife is a teacher. They have three married children: Kristen, Erin and Robert, and three grandchildren.
|
|
Memorable vacations the Mauros have taken include exploring the wilds of Alaska, and walking across the
bottom of the Grand Canyon. Frank is looking forward to learning to speak some Italian so he can visit his
roots in Italy in the future, and he wants to join the Bocce League. As for the food, he says "What can I
say about Italian food? --the best food in the world!"

David Manfreda...born and raised in Dayton, Ohio, his father was from Poughkeepsie,
NY with the majority of the relatives having the surname Manfredi. He believes that
his Great Grandparents were from Mustano, La Villina in Italy. If anyone knows where
this is, he would really like to know.
David has an Associates Degree from Sinclair and worked in commercial construction
for the past 25 years in NY, PA and NC before settling down back in Dayton. In 1997
he ventured out on his own with Manfreda Construction Corp., for which the majority
of his work is for the Kettering Medical Center Network.

David has been married to his wife, Tami, for 16 years. They have a 15-year-old daughter,
Kaitlyn and a 12-year-old son, John. His hobby is following his kids in their extra curricular
activities: cheerleading competitions, soccer, football, basketball and baseball. Rumors
have surfaced that there may be time for golf with the arrival of clubs at Christmas.
